Often cited as the first band to cross the Punk / Metal divide – they loved The Damned and Alice Cooper and they were the first Punk band to be featured in Metal specialist magazine Kerrang! – The Blood most certainly walked it as they talked it. Built around the vocals of Cardinal Jesus Hate and guitarist J.J. Bedsore (not their real names!) they were `discovered’ by Sounds journalist Garry Bushell and introduced to the public via a contribution to “Oi! Oi! That’s Yer Lot”. A one off deal with No Future Records followed and resulted in the stunning “Megalomania” EP and a No.6 Indie Chart hit. Six months later came the “Stark Raving Normal” single (No.20) and the brilliant “False Gestures For A Devious Public” LP (No.5) and then…..pretty much nothing. Apart from a mini LP, “Se Parare Nex”, they just drifted away which is a real shame as they could have achieved so much more. Ho hum.
