The Captains Corner
THE CAPTAINS CORNER
And at long last an update from The Captain!
Yet again we have to start with an apology for the long gap between up-dates. We haven’t been sitting round idly, just been very busy ‘behind the scenes’ making sure the label keeps ticking over in these troubled times. We’re still here so we must be doing something right!
First thing to mention is our traditional SUMMER SALE where we’ve knocked a couple of quid off of our releases for a limited period. Now is a good time to complete the collection at a super dooper cheapo price!
Due any day now are vinyl pressings of the entire COCK SPARRER back catalogue. Pressed and released by our friends Pirates Press in the USA we are taking 100 CLEAR VINYL copies of each of the following titles and they will only be available from Captain Oi!. Once they are gone we will have to import the standard USA versions so keep your eyes peeled on the site for a confirmed in stock date on
SHOCK TROOPS
RUNNIN’ RIOT IN ’84 / LIVE N LOUD
TRUE GRIT – THE OUT-TAKES
BACK HOME
GUILTY AS CHARGED 2009
TWO MONKEYS 2009
All will be in their original LP artwork – “Shock Troops” for example in it’s grey / white khaki sleeve – and all have been overseen by the band themselves. Should keep all the collectors and the vinyl fanatics happy!
You can also catch the band at the following shows
Aug 14th Germany, Leipzig, Endless Summer Festival
Sept 25th Czech Republic, Pilsen, KD Serikovka
Oct 2nd Basque / Spain, Durango, 4th Oktoberfest
Oct 23rd Scotland, Glasgow, O2 ABC
Dec 11th France, Paris, La Scene
On the new release side of things, September will see “THE SINGLES COLLECTION” by SECRET AFFAIR (MODSKA CD 30). This will have all of the bands 45’s, A and B sides, plus the two singles they did as the New Hearts, 3 rare USA mixes of the singles and two brand new tracks by the band who are still going strong to this day. The band also have a couple of gigs lined up namely
Sept 18th Belfast, Empire
Oct 23rd London, Islington O2 Academy (with Purple Hearts)
Don’t forget the three albums we already have out by the band
“GLORY BOYS” MODSKA CD 14
“BEHIND CLOSED DOORS” MODSKA CD 15
“BUSINESS AS USUAL” MODSKA CD 16
One other further release we hope to have before the end of the year is the brand new U.K.SUBS albums which is provisionally called “WORK IN PROGRESS”. As usual the band are out n about on the road and you catch Charlie & Co. ripping up the following places:

July 7th Gateshead, Three Tuns
July 8th Carlisle, Brickyard
July 9th Glasgow, Ivory Blacks
July 10 Aberdeen, Cafe Drummonds
July 15th Scarborough, Viva’s
July 16th Edinburgh, Citrus Club
July 17th Bolton, Soundhouse
July 18th Peterborough, Club Revolution
Aug 7th Blackpool, Rebellion Festival
Aug 14th Ipswich, Circle Lounge
Aug 21st Gosport, Rugby Club
Sept 11th Durham, Punk Festival
The yearly REBELLION FESTIVAL is taking place, as usual, at the Blackpool Winter Gardens, between AUGUST 5TH-8TH and among the Captain Oi! bands appearing are Slaughter & The Dogs, GBH, 999, Argy Bargy, The Oppressed, Pentration, The Defects, Deadline, Chelsea, Peter & The Test Tube Babies, etc...Should be a good bash!
THE SELECTER are celebrating 30 years of the “Too Much Pressure” album with an anniversary show at London’s Bloomsbury Ballroom on November 13th. 30 years....seems like only yesterday! We still have this seminal album available on CD (MODSKA CD 17) plus the follow up “CELEBRATE THE BULLET” (MODSKA CD 18) so if you haven’t got them yet, now is a good time, with the sale on, to add them to your collection.
The recently released “UNDER THE RADAR” (AHOY CD 309) by THE VIBRATORS continues to be a regular seller and the band, who have just completed a successful tour of New Zealand and Australia, have some dates lined up including
July 17th Sheerness, Castle
Aug 8th Blackpool, Rebellion
Sept 3rd Birmingham, Punk Picnic
Between 10th September and 17th October they will be rampaging across America and then between 9th-16th November they will be bashing away a few shows in Brazil. Punk Rock goes global!
